Andrew Leonard

Andrew Leonard is a graduate of the University of Sheffield with a BEng and PhD in Metallurgy. With an early career background in the UK Steel Industry and a period of seven years at TWI, working principally on the application of stainless steels and non-ferrous alloys across all industry sectors, Andrew joined BP Upstream in 2004.

He has worked in a number of materials and welding roles in Upstream Engineering, Technology and Projects. These have included Lead Materials, Corrosion and Welding Engineer for BP’s Angola Developments.

Since 2013 he has led the Materials and Welding Team for Global Subsea Systems, which has responsibility for delivery of all of BP’s subsea production equipment globally. Andrew also holds the role of Advisor for subsea materials selection across BP Upstream.

Andrew is a Chartered Engineer and professional member of The Welding Institute.
