Role: Chief Engineer Corrosion, Inspection and Chemistry
After gaining a PhD in electrochemistry at Loughborough University in 1986, Simon Joined BP Research in Sunbury working on photovoltaics for BP Solar. In 1989, he transferred to the Corrosion and Materials Group.
In 1995, he moved to the North Sea SPU where he held a wide range of operational support and functional roles primarily in the field of corrosion management and production chemistry. In 2003, he was seconded to TNK-BP as Pipeline Team Leader. In this role he was accountable for the management and remediation of all of TNK-BP's pipelines.
Simon and his team were finalists in the 2007 Helios awards. In 2007, he transferred back to the UK to EPT (Sunbury) as Integrity Management Team Leader. In 2008, he was appointed as Vice President of Technology for Operations with accountability for the IRF Flagship programmes. In 2012, he was appointed as Chief Engineer for Corrosion, Inspection and Chemistry. In 2015, his Chief Engineer accountabilities were expanded to include Pipelines, Materials & Welding as well as Corrosion, Inspection and Chemistry.
