Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) at ICAM

ICAM aims to attract, motivate, develop and retain the best talent from the diversity the world offers; our ability to be competitive and to thrive globally depends on it. We believe success comes from the energy of our people. Through living the values of safety, respect, excellence, courage and one team, ICAM creates an inclusive working environment where everyone can make a difference and give their best.

Steering Group

ED&I is of upmost importance to ICAM, with a steering group that meets twice a year to share best practice, lessons learnt across all institutions and present at the Annual Conference. ICAM’s key objective in this area is to support an ethos of continuous improvement in ED&I. View the ED&I Steering Group on the ICAM’s Leadership page.

Kathleen Lonsdale Research Fellowship

An established flagship ED&I initiative within ICAM is the Kathleen Lonsdale Research Fellowship, launched in 2018. This fellowship fully supports outstanding academic researchers at the beginning of their independent research career, whose personal circumstances require a flexible working pattern or additional support.

Diversity and Wellbeing Fund

Would you like to hold a training event about diversity in the workplace? Do you need some extra childcare support in order to attend a conference? Or would you benefit from some counselling sessions? If so the ICAM Diversity and Wellbeing Fund may be able to help you.

The fund is available to offer extra support to all members of  ICAM on matters regarding wellbeing, equality and diversity.

There are many reasons you may wish to apply to the fund, such as purchasing a personal piece of equipment to aid working with a disability or to help organise an event to celebrate pride at your institution. If you have an idea on how the fund could support you, ICAM would strongly encourage you to fill out the application form below.

Apply for the Diversity
and Wellbeing Fund

If you are an ICAM member and would like to apply for a portion of the Diversity and Wellbeing Fund, please fill out the application form and our Operations Manager, Tracy Amass, will get back to you.

Somethings to note:

  • All applications will be treated as strictly confidential.
  • To make an application you need to be a ICAM member. However, if you are applying to fund a group activity not all participants need to be from ICAM.
  • As standard awards are normally for up to £1000 per applicant, but are considered on a case-by-case basis. Therefore, if you think you will require above £1000 you are still very much encouraged to apply, just note this fact in your application.
