Our Work
The Fouling and Deposition focus area at ICAM is concerned with understanding the processes and molecular interactions that underpin many of the problems faced by the energy industry that result from deposition and scaling.
These processes result in the build-up of undesirable material that impacts the performance of the equipment, reducing its efficiency and causing the need for replacement if left untreated. These have both an energy cost and carbon cost.
ICAM research is helping industry to move from an empirical basis to a more robust understanding of processes and molecular interactions that is underpinned by scientific evidence, and to reduce the energy cost of fouling and deposition.
