Modelling

Our Work

The Modelling focus area at ICAM is concerned with building the computer models that enable the simulation of processes and materials behaviour within the energy industry. These models can reproduce catalytic reaction processes or the flow of matter through membranes and rocks, predict optimal materials for hydrogen storage, and support understanding of the behaviour of complex mixtures and solid-fluid interfaces.

Modelling and simulation avoid the difficulties of accurately recreating systems of interest in the physical world, especially important for large expensive constructions or inaccessible locations. It also allows experimental efforts to be guided and optimised and provides vital insights to quickly interpret complex data sets.
